Our lab is part of two graduate programs:

Molecular Biology - Biomedicine

The Graduate Program in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (MBB) has been established and run jointly by the Departments of Biology and Medicine, University of Crete. The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), a leading research Institute in molecular biology, participates actively in all the educational, training and research activities of MBB.

Cellular and Genetic Etiology, Diagnosis and Treatment of Human Disease

The graduate program is based on the Medical School of the University of Crete and is located side by side to the 800 bed University Hospital and the Schools of Biology, Physics and Chemistry of the University of Crete along with the internationally known Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH). The proximity of these institutions brings an impressive diversity of research opportunities for our Graduate Program and outstanding faculty and research facilities. In addition to internationally researchers in Greece the program includes in its faculty investigators from respectable institutions abroad thus providing the opportunity for selected students to pursue part of their studies overseas.

As an independent investigator I have supervised 5 PhD students in my lab (2 completed, 3 ongoing). I have supervised 6 MSc students (5 completed, 1 ongoing). I have also supervised 11 Diploma thesis students, 13 undergraduate research projects (three months each) and 16 graduate MSc rotation students. I was also an external supervisor for 10 PhD students, an external evaluator for 20 PhD theses, an examiner for 11 Qualifying PhD exams and an external evaluator for 9 MSc theses. I am currently supervising 1 Postdoctoral Fellow.
